Signing in

Gmail and Outlook

Choose Gmail or Outlook and sign in on Google’s or Microsoft’s own page. Icon Mail never sees your password.

iCloud Mail

Apple asks for an app-specific password rather than your usual one. In Icon Mail choose iCloud and follow the three steps: open your Apple Account page, make an app-specific password called Icon Mail, and paste it in. If you can’t see App-Specific Passwords, turn on two-factor authentication for your Apple Account first.

Your own domain, or another provider

Type your email address and password. Icon Mail finds the settings itself; if it can’t, your provider’s help pages list the IMAP and SMTP server names.

Your subscription

Icon Mail is free for 3 months, then a yearly or monthly subscription through the App Store. To cancel, go to Settings ▸ your name ▸ Subscriptions on your iPhone, at least a day before it renews. If you cancel during the free 3 months, you aren’t charged.

If your subscription ends, your car’s MOT and road tax reminders carry on free, and everything else you set up is kept, ready for when you come back.

Your data

Your email is read on your device and stays on your mail server. To remove everything Icon Mail has kept, delete the app. If you turned on sync between your devices, also delete the “Icon Mail” folder in your mailbox. The full details are in our privacy policy.
